Installation

Quick and simple installation

This is a true ‘do-it-yourself’ (DIY) installation system, taking 2-3 hours for a standard single story gabled-roof home. If DIY isn’t your thing we also offer installation ideas and guidance on where to place the room outlets including marking up your floor plans and providing advice about suitable installers.

Most electricians will also be familiar with and capable of fitting this type of product. Contact your local electrician, ask Unovent® for a recommended installer in your area or check here to see if an installer in your area has been listed.  Installation charges by a referred or preferred installer range from approximately $150 to $380 depending on property location and the number of Unovent® outlets to be installed.  In some cases, a power point will need to be installed, if not already in the correct place, such as in a floor to ceiling cupboard or in the roof cavity.

A Typical System

A home with 3 bedrooms and a lounge would require 4 x Unovent® room outlets mounted in the ceiling about 800mm from the window and 800mm from the side wall. With the illustrated kitset, a low voltage power supply for plugging into a standard 240 volt power point, a Unobrain® sensor controller and 25 metres of cable are supplied.

Positioning

The next step is determining the ceiling position for each Unovent®. The unit needs to be placed between any joists, bearers and battens. A check for ceiling studs from within the room or more likely a quick check up in the ceiling cavity will help to provide the best location.

A 240mm diameter hole is then cut out of the ceiling lining.

Final Setup

Cabling is a simple process of interconnecting a light weight cable from one Unovent® to the next.

Fit plugs and sockets to cables and connect the Unobrain®.

The Unovent® is placed in position and held firm with spring loaded latches pressing against the top side of the ceiling lining.

Then finally to the plug-in power supply. This power point can be located in the roof cavity or in a cupboard.

Reusable Filters

Filters are easily removed (from within the room), hand washed and placed back in each Unovent®, by the owner.
